چکیده

9 Half-hour latent heat flux (LE) was measured over an early-maturing peach orchard 10 (Prunus persica L.) by two different hygrometers: 1) infrared gas analyzer (IRGA) (Li11 COR, model Li-7500); and 2) ultraviolet hygrometer (Campbell, KH20). A good 12 agreement between LE obtained with the IRGA (LEIRGA) and the KH20 (LEKH20) 13 hygrometers was observed. During rainy periods, LEIRGA and LEKH20 were not reliable 14 due to failure of the instruments caused by water drops standing over the sensors 15 heads. Filtering out rainy periods improved the similarity between LEIRGA and LEKH20: 16 mean estimation error, 6.2 W m; root mean square error, 21.3 W m; and refined 17 index of agreement, 0.919. Even though the IRGA hygrometer is generally 18 recommended, when economic constraints exist, the KH20 hygrometer can be used 19 with similar confidence. 20 21 22

Correcting eddy-covariance flux underestimates over a grassland

Independent measurements of the major energy balance flux components are not often consistent with the principle of conservation of energy. This is referred to as a lack of closure of the surface energy balance. Most results in the literature have shown the sum of sensible and latent heat fluxes measured by eddy covariance to be less than the difference between net radiation and soil heat fluxe...

Field Evaluation of Polymer Capacitive Humidity Sensors for Bowen Ratio Energy Balance Flux Measurements

The possibility of reliable, reasonably accurate and relatively inexpensive estimates of sensible heat and latent energy fluxes was investigated using a commercial combination thin-film polymer capacitive relative humidity and adjacent temperature sensor instrument. Long-term and unattended water vapour pressure profile difference measurements using low-power combination instruments were compar...

Uncertainty in eddy covariance measurements and its application to physiological models.

Flux data are noisy, and this uncertainty is largely due to random measurement error. Knowledge of uncertainty is essential for the statistical evaluation of modeled and measured fluxes, for comparison of parameters derived by fitting models to measured fluxes and in formal data-assimilation efforts. We used the difference between simultaneous measurements from two towers located less than 1 km...

Uncertainty analysis of computational methods for deriving sensible heat flux values from scintillometer measurements

The use of scintillometers to determine sensible heat fluxes is now common in studies of land-atmosphere interactions. The main interest in these instruments is due to their ability to quantify energy distributions at the landscape scale, as they can calculate sensible heat flux values over long distances, in contrast to Eddy Covariance systems. However, scintillometer data do not provide a dir...
